Ruby Chou, classical pianist based in Austin, is passionate about teaching, chamber music and entrepreneurial endeavors.  At the age of 17, she was selected by Yamaha Corporation as a Yamaha Young Performing Artist of the Year. She has performed on summer festival recital series at Steinway Hall in New York and at The Millennium Stage at Washington D.C.’s Kennedy Center. At the Philadelphia Academy of Fine Arts, Ms. Chou performed The Raven- A Monodrama for Mezzo-soprano, Viola, and Piano by Gerald Elias (Utah Symphony assistant concertmaster emeritus and acclaimed author!) with the composer for the bicentennial celebration of Edgar Allan Poe.

Ms. Chou recently held a fellowship at The Center for Music Entrepreneurship at the Manhattan School of Music where she worked alongside Angela Myles Beeching, director of CME and author of Beyond Talent. She assisted MSM students and alumni with booking gigs, job and internship searches and edited their bios, résumés, press releases and job applications. Ms. Chou also co-planned and moderated CME’s Setting the Stage series which are interactive career workshops focusing on the entrepreneurial approach to creating sustainable careers. 

Ms. Chou was on the piano faculty teaching group classes at East High School in Salt Lake City during the 2013-14 academic year. She graduated from the Manhattan School of Music with a Master’s degree in piano performance where she also studied pedagogy with Carol Ann Aicher and Peter Andreacchi. She earned her Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Utah in Salt Lake City where she grew up after emigrating from Taiwan at the age of six.
